If you’re a traditional Friday night fish n’chips fan, or have uncontrollable urges for oysters, Fishers in Bristol will thoroughly satisfy your penchant.
This lovely restaurant has adopted an ocean theme and is subsequently a den of tranquillity. Alison Pringle and Colin Mabbutt co-own and manage Fishers, first established in Oxford. The expansion to Bristol has produced another loyal following of customers keen to sample the daily changing menu.
The menu presents both traditional and contemporary fish dishes. Starters range from River Fowey mussels steamed in white wine, garlic and cream to one of the Chef’s favourites; pan-fried king scallops with wild mushroom duxelle, glazed with hollandaise sauce.
Traditional haddock fish and chips with mushy peas and gherkins are a big hit for the hungry, while Fishers are well known for their Scottish salmon fishcakes (requests for the recipe are all too frequent). The whole sea bass (oven cooked with shellfish oil) is one of the most delicious fish dishes available in the city. Served whole it is succulent and has a subtle garlic flavour.
Fishers offers great value for money with a set lunch for only £7.50, and with an Early Dinner special for two people to have supper and a bottle of wine for only £20, it’s no wonder it’s advisable to book!
If you enjoy classic style fish and seafood Fishers is quite a catch!
